Associate Broker

We are looking for an Associate Broker to join our fast-paced Commercial Broking team. The successful candidate must have basic insurance knowledge, perhaps already in a role where you’re ready for a change, new challenges and wants a dedicated career path. You will be assisting our Senior Commercial Brokers by handling assorted daily tasks with an eye to moving into the Broker role. The right person will want to learn from the provided mentorship and be eager to take on more.

Job Status

Status: Full-Time, permanent

Location: Burnaby, BC

Compensation: Acera’s total compensation offerings are based on pay for performance that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance.  The typical hiring range for this position is from $55,000 – $70,000 CAD annually; the pay offering is based on location and will vary depending on related insurance experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity.

Essential Job Functions

  • Reviewing insurance policy documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintaining accurate and organized client files by attaching relevant correspondence and documentation within EPIC.
  • Inputting and updating key policy details and endorsements in Policy Works to support quote generation, renewal processes, and internal documentation consistency.
  • Creating and managing activities in EPIC to track progress and task completion.
  • Assisting in the development of client-facing coverage comparison documents by extracting and inputting key data from insurer quotes and proposals to support broking recommendations.
  • Preparing and issuing insurance documents such as binders, certificates of insurance, cover notes, and invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Submitting and retrieving quotes via insurer portals.

Qualifications and Soft Skills

  • Working towards Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) License or General Insurance License is preferred.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience working with EPIC and Policy Works is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to unique situations.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Genuine interest in pursuing a long-term career in the insurance industry.
  • Collaborative team player with a positive and professional attitude.
