Claims Associate

Acera Insurance is currently recruiting a Claims Associate to join our Claims Team working out of our Burnaby office. The Claims Associate reports claims to the Insurance companies and Adjusters; with excellent communication, follow-up and problem-solving skills to ensure efficiency of claims processing and the highest quality service to the client.

Status: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Burnaby, BC

Pay Range: Acera’s compensation offerings reflect a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes company performance and individual contributions. The typical hiring range for this position is from $50,000 - $55,000 annually. The base salary range for this position is determined based on market location and is influenced by job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s years of experience, education, geographic location, and demonstrated ability.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor new claims inbox and report new claims to insurance companies and/or adjusters
  • Maintain follow-up system with Insurance companies and/or Adjusters to ensure efficiency of claims handling
  • Obtain status updates on current claims and when in receipt, identify claims issues or coverage disputes that may arise.
  • Notify management of large reserves or increases in reserves
  • Obtain status requests from adjusters on a 90 to 180 day cycle
  • Enter new claims and maintain data in EPIC including attaching all documentation and correspondence
  • Review quarterly bordereaux and update claims figures in EPIC
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure proper handling of claims
  • Assist sales team with loss runs as needed
  • Participate in claims workflow efficiencies and claims system solutions
  • Assist in the implementation of new claims workflows in response to the ongoing changes and needs of our organization

 Qualifications and Soft Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 2 years office administration experience
  • Level 1 Insurance License or ability to obtain is preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills including a good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Outlook and Excel
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail needed
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude and an ability to work well under pressure
  • Willing to learn and grow in an ever-changing and high energy department
  • Previous experience working in EPIC is considered an asset
  • Well-developed people and professional communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize (daily tasks & incoming claims)
