CLIENT SERVICE SPECIALIST, DISABILITY MANAGEMENT | ACERA BENEFITS

 

JOB SUMMARY

Provide administrative support to the Disability Management Department in delivering Disability Management services across Canada. Your work contributes to positive health outcomes for employees and cost-effective solutions for our clients. 

 

JOB DETAILS

  • Location: St. Albert, Alberta  
  • Status: Full-time permanent 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Assist with the end-to-end administration of Disability Management claims and services, including intake, documentation, tracking, and communication. Ensure timely and accurate processing across various claim types and jurisdictions  
  • Support the Disability Management team with file organization, documentation updates, and coordination of claim-related activities, including transitions between benefit types where applicable  
  • Oversee client invoicing from creation to collection—prepare and send invoices, track payments, and follow up to ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances    
  • Learn provincial WCB policies and processes; liaise with WCBs across Canada on claim management, appeals, Cost Relief, and Cost Transfers. 
  • Prepare monthly employer reports; monitor, track, and report on Disability Management activities, including occupational and non-occupational claims, related costs, and other leave types  
  • Support the implementation and rollout of disability management software, including file migration and documentation standards. 
  • Communicate with employees, employers/HR, and treatment providers to request and distribute information required for the management of disability claims. Follow up on outstanding items, ensure completion, and maintain accurate documentation within claim files  
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure documentation, storage, and handling of records comply with privacy policies, laws, and legislation. 

 

COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Customer service experience with strong communication and client-care skills. 
  • Proven file management and organizational skills with attention to detail and timelines. 
  • Education/training in a health-related field with knowledge of medical terminology. 
  • Knowledge of disability claims processes, including occupational and non-occupational programs, is considered an asset  
  • Certification with a related regulatory body—or willingness to pursue. 
  • Curiosity to learn provincial policies/processes and comfort working with software and reporting tools. 
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to build trust with clients, employees, and stakeholders.
